Is it just me or has anyone else been disapointed by camping in Italy? Seems very expensive, you get crammed in like sardines, charged a euro for a 2-3 minute shower. Not my idea of fun! Admittedly the bad sites were on the coast near Cinque Terre, I will never advise anyone to camp at or near Cinque Terre!

I've travelled all around Italy and I found 2 wonderful campsites, clean, quite, not expensive, with big pitches, good service, nice people and in wonderful places: one is in Umbria, near Perugia www.campingpineta.net and the other one was in Sicily, near Cefalů www.raisgerbi.it Unfortunaly you are right, some campsites in Italy are too much busy and expensive, but if someone is thinking to go to Italy, don't miss Camping Pineta and Rais Gerbi, I really suggest you them.
